CLASS OF 2010 (JUNIORS)

The Class of 2010 made a very strong showing at the event. This is one of the most talented classes we have seen in quite some time. Daniel Estes (5’11” PG Laramie, WY) was named the Co-Most Outstanding Player and Top Junior in the event. He was strong all day long, showing a passion to improve while leading the skill instruction and playing very well in the games. He is a very sturdy point guard that handles the ball like it’s on a yo-yo, defends very well and hits shots from every range. He also gets to the rim well, is very unselfish with the ball and loves to get his teammates involved. He is a wonderful student and would be a great fit in the Ivy Leagues or a similar level Mid to Low Major Division I school.

Five other Juniors made the All Event Team. This group was highlighted by a pair of nice mid-sized players from Pueblo; Tyrell Williams (6’5” SF Pueblo South) and Mitch Secora (6’6” SF Pueblo East). Williams is a very athletic player who can play a variety of positions. He has always been one of the highest ranked players in his class and seems to be putting on some weight and developing his skills well. Secora is one of the fastest rising players in his class. He has a nice frame and looks to still be growing. He rebounds and runs the floor well and can score inside as well as hit the mid range jump shot. Joining them on the All Event Team was Austin Miller (6’4” SG Grandview). He is one of the most “under the radar” players in the state and should have a big breakout junior year. He is a long, athletic wing who shoots the ball well and has great instincts. Two very nice combo guards, Nick Tomsick (6’0” CG Broomfield) and Keigan Peterson (6’0” CG Green Mountain), also made the All Event Team. Tomsick is one of the most prolific scorers in the state and also defends very well. He should have a very big junior year. Peterson is one of the best mid range scorers we have seen in a while in this state. He seems to improve every time he steps on the floor and also has done some major work in the weight room, which will help his recruiting stock tremendously.

Other juniors who played well but didn’t quite make the All Event Team were Michael Melillo (6’4” SG Fairview), Timothy Perry (5’10” PG Pine Creek), Max Stanford (6’2” SG Monarch), Devon Grant (6’1” SG Rampart) and Keith Patton (6’1” SG Heritage).

CLASS OF 2011 (SOPHOMORES)

The Sophomore Class made a wonderful showing at the event. They were highlighted by Terrell Brown (6’4” SG Palmer), who was named Co-Most Outstanding Player as well and being named Top Sophomore of the event. Brown seems to be playing at a completely different level than other players in his class. He is incredibly coachable and just seems to love to play basketball. He has a very nice frame for his position and looks to still be growing. He has a deadly mid range jump shot and gets to the rim and finishes with ease. He is also a very tenacious defender and has a great feel for the game. With some continued development, he should be a High Major Division I prospect.

Four other Sophomores made the All Event Team. Two very nice looking wings played well in the event; Chris Hansen (6’2” SG Fossil Ridge) and Chris Ashe (6’1” SG Widefield). Hansen improved throughout the day and proved to be a very tough matchup as he was able to post up and shoot over smaller guards and take bigger players to the rim off the dribble. He should have a big sophomore year and climb up the rankings. Ashe is a very strong guard who gets to the rim very well and has a great motor. He is very athletic and defends well. Two point guards, Jordan Gregory (6’0” PG Pueblo East) and Craig Saltarelli (5’8” PG Fairview), also made a nice showing in the event and made the All Event Team. Gregory has a great frame for his position and has great instincts. He does a great job of including his teammates and also hits the open jump shot. Saltarelli burst onto the scene with a great showing in the event. He is a great leader who is very fun to watch. He defends very well and always makes the right pass to get his teammates involved in the game. He should skyrocket up the rankings after his strong performance.

Other Sophomores who played well but didn’t quite make the All Event Team include Dominique Wright (6’3” SF Palmer), Daniel Versteeg (6’0” SG Pueblo East) and Nathan McCubbin (5’9” CG Rock Canyon).

CLASS OF 2012 (FRESHMEN)

The Freshman Class also made a strong showing in the event. Two Freshmen made the All Event Team. Trey Boykin (6’2” SG Rangeview) was named Top Freshman in the event and made a wonderful showing. He hit shots from all over the floor all day long and ended up leading the entire event in scoring, which is the first time a freshman has ever done so. He has wonderful athleticism and natural skills and has a great frame for his position. If he continues to develop, he should be a very nice college prospect. The other Freshman to make the All Event Team was Jalen Little (5’8” PG Palmer). He is incredibly quick, handles the ball very well and is also fairly thick for his age. He shoots the ball well from various ranges and gets to the rim fairly easily.

Other Freshmen who played well in the event but didn’t quite make the All Event Team were Jordan Hunter (6’0” SG Montbello) and Michael Zeller (6’2” SF Green Mountain).
