CLASS OF 2008 (SENIORS)
Nate Nelson (6’3” Montbello) and Jake Campbell (6’0” Grandview) were named the Top Seniors in the event. Nelson was aggressive going to the rim all day long and hit quite a few jump shots. He is very athletic and has good size for his position. He has a good chance to be a first team all conference performer this season and should be a wonderful RMAC player in college. Campbell is one of the quickest guards in the state. He handles the ball effectively in traffic and finishes well at the rim. He also shot the ball very well in the event. He is one of the most underrated players in the state should have a great senior season.
Trent Sides (5’10” Sterling) was solid on both ends of the floor. He is an explosive scorer and scrappy defender who makes a lot of good things happen for his team. He should have a good senior season after missing most of last year due to an injury. Aaron Wilcox (6’3” Rawlins, WY) was one of the leading scorers in Wyoming last season and looked impressive in the event. A virtual unknown prospect up to this point, he is a natural scorer with a nice stroke and decent athleticism. He could be a solid college prospect with a good senior season. Andrew Abrahamson (6’1” Grandview) also made a nice showing in the event. He is a very effective, hard nosed player who can play multiple positions. He finished well at the rim and shot the ball well in the event. Collin Skufca (6’6” Heritage) also played well in the event and would have made the All Event Team if he didn’t have to leave early. He can play almost every position on the floor and should make a great small forward in college.
CLASS OF 2009 (JUNIORS)
Travis Shepherd (6’4” Fairview) was named the Most Outstanding Player and Top Junior in the event. He is a natural scorer and was simply outstanding all day long on both ends of the floor. He is one of the best overall shooters in the state and displayed a much improved mid range game in the event. He is very long and has good size for his position. Shepherd should be one of the top player and leading scorers in his league this season and he has the makings of a great mid-major shooting guard in college.
Beau Gamble (6’0” Fairview) was solid in the event. He is a very unselfish point guard who makes his teammates better. He shoots the ball very well and has the potential to be a solid Division I prospect. Temani Adams (6’0” Cherokee Trail) burst onto the scene with a very impressive performance in the event. He plays hard on both ends of the floor and demonstrated he can score in a variety of ways. He has a good body and should have a good season for one of the best 4A teams in the state.
Micah Edwards (6’6” Palmer) was solid in the post and displayed a nice mid range game in the event. He has a good frame and nice upside and should surprise some people this season. Connor Kloepfer (6’2” Niwot) was a virtual unknown commodity but should make his way up the rankings after a good showing in the event. He is very strong and finishes well in traffic. Tyler Haidaris (6’2” Chatfield) played well in the event. He is one of the best shooters in the state and has improved tremendously on defense over the past year. He should be one of the leading scorers in his league this season.
Other juniors who played well but didn’t make the All Event Team were Peter Travers (6’7” Rocky Mountain), Anthony Cardinale (6’0” Air Academy) and Matt Trimpey (6’4” Liberty). Travers has a good frame and has developed well offensively over the past year. Cardinale has a great motor and plays hard on both ends of the floor. Trimpey has good instincts and shoots the ball very well.
CLASS OF 2010 (SOPHOMORES)
The class of 2010 made a great showing in the event. They were lead by Daniel Estes (5’11” Laramie, WY) who was named the Top Sophomore in the event. He is an incredibly smart point guard who makes a lot of good things happen with the ball in his hands. He shoots the ball well from various ranges and is very quick with the ball. He also is a great leader and very scrappy on defense and should have a great season while leading one of the best teams in Wyoming.
Josh Heikkla (6’3” ThunderRidge) has a great motor and is very versatile on offense. He is one of the best sophomores in the state but will have to wait his turn behind some older players in a loaded ThunderRidge lineup. Ron Fore (6’6” Salida) made his debut in a big way. He has good instincts around the rim and finishes well for a post player his age. He has a nice frame and should continue to grow as well.
Other sophomores who played well but didn’t make the All Event Team were Nathan Bailey (6’4” Air Academy) and Kelby Wilkison (6’0” Laramie, WY). Bailey is versatile and has a good frame. Wilkison has a decent stroke and plays hard on defense.
CLASS OF 2011 (FRESHMEN)
Jordan Gregory (5’10” Pueblo East) was named the Top Freshman in the event and the only freshman to make the All Event Team. He is heady point guard who seems to have a natural scoring ability and good understanding for the game. He handles the ball well and makes his teammates better.
Other freshmen who played well but didn’t make the All Event Team were David Nuhn (6’3” Heritage) and Anthony Gosz (5’10” Ponderosa). Nuhn has some growth potential and can play a variety of positions. Gosz is a smart point guard who shoots the ball well and has great range.
