GAME SUMMARY
This was a sloppy game characterized by selfish play but both teams did manage to play decent defensively and demonstrate more aspects of their games beyond their offensive skills. The game started out slowly with the White team taking an early lead, only to see the Black team take a 49-41 lead behind a strong second quarter from T.J. Adams and Xavier Ford. The second half saw the Black team extend their lead to as much as 15 points, only to have Uriah Carter single handedly bring his team back to within five points midway through the fourth quarter. Terrell Brown and the Black team responded and ended up winning the game 98-87.
Terrell Brown (6’4” CG Palmer) and Uriah Carter (5’8” CG Mullen) were named Co-Most Outstanding Players of the game. Brown finished with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists and made some big buckets late in the game to seal the victory for his team. Carter finished with 25 points and 5 steals while tying an RMFS record with six three pointers. He single handedly kept his team in the game in the fourth quarter. T.J. Adams (6’6” SF Silver Creek) also made a strong case for MOP and demonstrated his all around game with 13 points, on only seven shots, to go along with 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. He also took four charges in the game.
TOP PERFORMERS
Terrell Brown (6’4” CG Palmer) has set himself apart from the rest of the class at this point. He scores at the rim very well and hits the mid-range jump shot with ease. He has a nice handle and great athleticism and is very smooth with the ball in his hands. He is also a great rebounder for his position and one of the best defenders in the state, regardless of class. He was named Co-Most Outstanding Player of the game and finished with a game high 26 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Uriah Carter (5’8” CG Mullen) is one of the quickest players in the state. He has a nice natural scoring ability for a player his size and shoots the ball well. He handles the ball very well and loves to push the ball up the court on the break. He was named Co-Most Outstanding Player of the game while finishing with 25 points and 5 steals, including tying an RMFS record with six three pointers.
T.J. Adams (6’6” SF Silver Creek) is a wonderful looking prospect with great natural leadership abilities who can play four positions equally well. He finished the game with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while taking four charges, which is almost un-heard of in an all star game. If he continues to develop his skill set in the next year or so, he should be a nice mid to upper mid major prospect.
Xavier Ford (6’6” SF Harrison) is a big time prospect with a ton of upside. He is still very raw but has the fundamentals and athleticism needed to develop into a very nice upper mid to high major prospect. He scores well around the rim and has a nice stroke to the stripe. He finished the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Javon Moore (6’4” SF Arapahoe) seems to have taken the next step he has needed to take to become one of the top prospects in his class. He has always been able to shoot the ball well and demonstrated that he can finish well around the rim in this event. He finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals and had a big second half.
Chris Ashe (6’2” SG Widefield) is one of the best all around athletes in the state. He is very strong and gets to the rim and draws contact very well. He has a great motor and defends very well and should be one of the top players in the Colorado Springs Metro 4A League this season. He finished the game with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
