GAME SUMMARY

The Freshmen Game was over shortly after it started. The Black team jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. The Pueblo South duo of Tyrell Williams and Javon Hall was virtually unstoppable in the first half and the White team was playing incredibly selfish basketball.

The second half was even most of the way with the Black in control. Along with Hall and Williams, Christian Thomas played very well for the Black squad. Late in the fourth quarter, Wesley McKenzie and Nick Tomsick caught fire and brought the White team back within a respectable margin but their effort wasn’t enough and the Black team ended up with a 110-101 victory.

Tyrell Williams (Pueblo South) was named Most Outstanding Player and finished with 21 point, 16 rebounds and 3 blocks.  He was phenomenal all day long on both ends of the floor and his 16 rebound effort was a RMFS record. His Pueblo South teammate, Javon Hall, was also solid all day and controlled the game very effectively. He finished with 18 points, 6 assists and 3 steals while shooting 8-10 from the field. Christian Thomas (Regis) also had a solid game and finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

TOP PERFORMERS

Tyrell Williams (6’4”-Pueblo South)-MOP

Williams was fantastic all game on both ends of the court. His performance went a long way to him possibly being ranked the #1 player in his class. He finished the game with 21p, 16r and 3b and demonstrated his versatility by scoring inside and outside. His 16r were a RMFS record. As good as Williams is right now, he has even more potential and has a tremendous amount of upside.

Javon Hall (6’0”-Pueblo South)

Hall also had a fantastic game and controlled the tempo very well. He has the ability to score any time he wants but knows how to involve his teammates as well. He finished the game with 18p, 6a and 3s and shot an impressive 8-10 from the field.

Christian Thomas (6’3”-Regis)

Thomas was one of the best surprises of the day with his excellent performance. He was a late addition to the event and more than earned the invitation. He shot well from the perimeter and finished with 20p and 7r while shooting 7-9 from the field.

Wesley McKenzie (6’0”-Liberty)

McKenzie had a great second half and made a name for himself in the event. He is a tough, hardnosed player who hasn’t been seen by many people yet. He shoots the ball well and gets to the rim as well. He finished the game with 18p and 3s.

Nick Tomsick (6’0”-Broomfield)

Tomsick is one of the most explosive offensive players in his class. He had a strong fourth quarter and shot the ball well from the perimeter, finishing with a team high 19p and 5r.

David Day (6’4”-ThunderRidge)

Day has a tremendous amount of upside and has a chance to be a special player. He was tough inside and hit some mid range shots as well. He finished with a solid 16p and 8r.

Tim Billingsley (6’2”-Chaparral)

After sleepwalking through the first half, Billingsley woke up and started to make things happen for his team late. He is arguably the best player in the class and finished with 13p, 6r and 3s.

Chris Carter (6’3” Thomas Jefferson)

Carter played very hard and finished the game with a solid 12p and 8r. He has tons of upside and should turn out to be a very good prospect in the near future.
